Anti Sag Systems
ProSigma Section
The ProSigma+ range from Duggan Profiles is a series of purlins and rails suitable for use in industrial, commercial and agricultural applications.
It may be used with all types of conventional modern roof and wall cladding including metal composite panels, secret fix systems, twin skin construction and single skin profiles.
The range comprises 7 section depths in 3 separate material thicknesses as outlined below.
Two distinct material finishes are also available depending on the application; end users have a choice between conventional hot-dip finish and a white pre-painted coating.
Refer to Material Specification (Galvanised) and Material Specification (Prepainted) for more detailed information.
Design of the ProSigma+ profile has been in accordance with Eurocode 3, BS EN 1993-1 3:2006 and complemented by extensive physical testing. The result is an efficient range of sections which when used with appropriate anti sag systems combine to suit the widely varying conditions and loadings imposed by modern building techniques.

ProSigma+ is available in a range of 7 section depths ranging from 145 up to 325mm.
There are 3 material thickness options available for the galvanised members while the prepainted products are available in a choice of 1.5 or 2mm.
The table above lists the available sizes, however alternative section depths and gauges may be available on special order subject to quantity.
Sections are specified by product code with a typical code being of the type DP-SP205/65/150.

The codes are defined as follows:
DP: Duggan Profiles, used as a prefix for all our sections
SP: Sigma Plus, this defines the profile and distinguishes it from Cee’s or Eaves Beams
205: The first 3 digits denote the section depth in mm
65: The second block of digits denotes the flange width in mm
150: The final block of digits denotes the thickness, 150 is 1.5mm, 180 is 1.8mm and so on.

Typical profile dimensions are indicated however it should be borne in mind that tolerances associated with the roll forming process means deviation from these nominal indicators is inevitable.
Lengths
Duggan Profiles can roll form its cold rolled products in lengths up to 20m. Customers should bear in mind the logistics of transportation and site handling before ordering sections of excessive length. If possible cold rolled sections should not exceed 14m for maximum ease of transportation.
Punching arrangement
Standard gauge lines for bolted connections are 20mm from top and bottom flanges as shown below. Anti sag ties typically connect to holes on the section centreline. In general all holes are 14mm to suit M12 bolts however 18mm holes are also available if specified. Slotted holes, off standard punching and additional services such as notching, counterforming and service holes may also be available depending on section depth and the size and position of required holes etc. Refer to Prosigma+ Customisation section for more in-depth information on the variety of additional services available.

Material specification (Galvanised)
Purlins, Rails, Eaves Beams and Cee sections from the Duggan Profiles ProSigma range are manufactured as standard from high proof strength steel for cold forming with the following characteristics to EN 10346:2009

Steel Name HX460LAD
Minimum yield strength (Rel): 460MPa
Corrosion protection: Hot-dip zinc coating
Coating designation: Z275
Coating mass: 275g/m2 (The minimum total coating mass both surfaces using triple spot test)

The material thickness is to EN 10143:2006 Continuously hot-dip coated steel sheet and strip. Tolerances on dimensions and shape
Material specification (Prepainted)
Painted Purlins, Rails, Eaves Beams and Cee sections from the Duggan Profiles ProSigma range may be manufactured from organically coated structural steel with the following characteristics:

Steel Name S390
Minimum yield strength: 390MPa
Corrosion protection: Hot-dip zinc coating
Coating designation: Z275
Coating mass: 275g/m2 (The minimum total coating mass both surfaces using triple spot test)

The painted finish to EN 10169:2010 is as follows:
Colour: Chalk White*
A 15μm thick flexible primer specially designed to resist corrosion, applied on both sides.
A 20μm thick flexible chemical and corrosion resistant Polyester Resin finish (Chalk White Top Coat) applied on both sides.
*The colour indicated is for information purposes only. Material samples are the only reliable indicator of colour and are available on request.

The material thickness is to EN 10143:2006 Continuously hot-dip coated steel sheet and strip. Tolerances on dimensions and shape.
Section properties
Section properties have been calculated in accordance with Eurocode 3, BS EN 1993-1 3:2006. The top flange of the purlin must have adequate restraint provided by robust steel sheeting (or similar) fixed directly to the top flange.
Load tables
Load tables are provided for a range of spanning modes. The diagrams accompanying each set of tables demonstrate the configuration of purlins (and sleeves if used) applicable in each case.
These guidelines must be followed for the information provided to remain valid.
The tables cater for bay sizes up to 10m and provide information for purlin centres from 1.2 up to 2.8m.
Allowable loads for wind uplift are included with varying values dependent on the provision of anti sag restraint.
Comprehensive guidance on systems of restraint is included in the section on Anti Sag Systems.

Interpretation of colour used in Visual Aids:
Throughout this section on the Prosigma system extensive use has been made of exaggerated and eye-catching colouring such as red, blue etc. Please note this is used for illustrative purposes only and does not infer that the products in question are supplied in the colours shown. Information on materials and colours available may be obtained from colour charts, material samples and product samples available on request from Duggan Profiles.
