ProSigma+ STIFFENED CLEATS
The addition of stiffeners significantly improves the load carrying capacity of all forms of cleats. (Refer to the Load data section on the Introduction page for full details). Where situations demand stiffened versions of all types of both Bolt on and Weld-on cleats are available to suit all section sizes subject to a maximum overall length of 450mm. The addition of stiffening ribs is particularly relevant where cleats are extended due to the rapid reduction in capacity as length increases. Apart from the added stiffening rib these cleats are dimensionally identical to their standard counterparts and fit as indicated by the diagrams in the “General Information” section of the Introduction page. They can be used with purlins, rails and Cee sections and product codes for most available options are listed on this page; refer to the “Unprimed Cleats” section if looking for information on stiffened unprimed bolt-on cleats or stiffened and extended unprimed bolt-on cleats. Dimensioned drawings of typical examples in both bolt-on and weld-on formats are included on this page along with full scale CAD drawings in similar style.

The diagram below shows typical examples of stiffened versions of bolt on and weld on cleats. It must be noted that the maximum available extension for manufacturing purposes is governed by the 450 maximum overall height. Note also the harness hole is located in the stiffener.
Stiffened Cleat

Stiffened cleats in Weld-on format are supplied without any primer or other form of corrosion protection while bolt-on versions are supplied primed unless otherwise requested. Stiffened cleats are made to order and extended lead times apply.

Load Data:

Structural data for these cleats is included here. The moment capacities for stiffened cleats listed should be used. The quick reference table does not provide data for stiffened cleats and should not be used. The addition of stiffeners significantly increases cleat capacity so this is an option if unstiffened versions are inadequate. Where the addition of stiffeners is still insufficient to offer the required support another form of support such as hot rolled stubs must be used.
